Three reasons for an iPhone

  1. Google Maps  - I get lost easily, Google Maps on my phone would be cool.
  2. FumbleView - Play by play NFL games on my phone.  Way too cool.  Great way to keep up on those Saturday night games while at church... :)
  3. Pickleview - As if football updates were not enough, baseball updates.  Go Mariners.

Home Bandwidth

A guy whose blog I read just got bonded T1s at home (he's a beta tester, not sure how I get on that list!), and he's seeing speeds of 2,733 kbps down and 2,811 kbps upload.

Me, I get the following:

Not bad.  But it's nighttime, and my Comcast connection isn't the fastest at night.

I'd love to have bonded T1s at home.  Heck, I'd settle for one T1 at home.  But $500 a month for bandwidth (minimum) isn't going to cut it with the accounting department.  So I'll live.

James, how do I get on that beta list?

I upload a lot of photos and this would be a very useful thing to "test" .

Web Developer needed

I'm looking for a web developer who could put together a database driven website.  Fairly simple, I think.  But over my head from a development perspective.  So I'm looking to have someone do it for me, inexpensively, hopefully (because I don't have a lot of money).

The site will be ad driven, hopefully, and generate revenue through Google Adsense.

If you are a web developer, email me at mstrock AT myhomeoffice DOT org with 'WEB DEVELOPER' as the title.

I'm looking for someone who can do a MySQL/PHP based site.  I will be hosting this through a hosting company, not myself.

Thanks!

Tesla Motors replaces CEO

I read today on Engadget, via Green Wombat, that the CEO of Tesla Motors  Martin Eberhard had been replaced.

Tesla Motors, you may remember, is the manufacturer of the Tesla Roadster, a new soon to be released electronic supercar with 0-60 speeds in less than four seconds.  All via an electric motor that you plug into a regular electrical outlet to recharge.

Over 500 folks have put $100,000 down to purchase one.  1,000 will be available in the first model year.  If I had $100,000 available, I might buy one too, not because I need a car that will go 0-60 mph in 4 seconds, and not because I'm a treehugger.  But because I think it would be great to have a fast car that doesn't use gasoline.  I could use it for commuting.

But frankly, if I had $100,000 laying around, I probably wouldn't be working anyway.  So I wouldn't need to commute. :)

Good luck Tesla.  We'll be watching, and anxiously await the release of your roadster and the White Star sedan in 2009.
