I read today on Engadget, via Green Wombat, that the CEO of Tesla Motors Martin Eberhard had been replaced.
Tesla Motors, you may remember, is the manufacturer of the Tesla Roadster, a new soon to be released electronic supercar with 0-60 speeds in less than four seconds. All via an electric motor that you plug into a regular electrical outlet to recharge.
Over 500 folks have put $100,000 down to purchase one. 1,000 will be available in the first model year. If I had $100,000 available, I might buy one too, not because I need a car that will go 0-60 mph in 4 seconds, and not because I'm a treehugger. But because I think it would be great to have a fast car that doesn't use gasoline. I could use it for commuting.
But frankly, if I had $100,000 laying around, I probably wouldn't be working anyway. So I wouldn't need to commute. :)
Good luck Tesla. We'll be watching, and anxiously await the release of your roadster and the White Star sedan in 2009.
