Costco Photo Center no longer work with Firefox?

I created a photo order yesterday and tried to go into the cart to pay for it.  I use Firefox exclusively, but was getting the following error dialog:

image

Essentially it says that Firefox can't navigate to the shopping cart because it says

"Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."

This is new, as I've used Firefox and the Costco Photo center many, many times before.  I have a feeling it has to do with a Firefox upgrade, but I can't figure it out.  Trying to use IE results in other weird errors, so at this point, I have an order in my cart I can't complete.  Frustrating.

Things to take on a trip

If you are packing a laptop along on your vacation, or on a business trip, here are a few things I think you need to consider packing:

  • Network cable.  Sure would have helped on this trip I'm on now.  Will probably put a 10'-20' cable in my bag for my next trip.
  • Wireless Router. Like the above, it sure would have helped out on my current trip.
  • A decent computer bag.  I'm looking at getting a new computer bag (maybe for Christmas) and the Tom Bihn Empire Builder bag is looking awful sweet.  At $150, it ain't cheap, but I carry my laptop to and from work every day, so it definitely would be a worthwhile investment.

I'm currently staying at my brother in law's house where they have Wifi.  But it wasn't set up by them, and they don't know the WEP password.  I'm not smart enough to crack WEP encryption, so I'm stuck yanking a CAT5 out of their main desktop machine so I can have connectivity.  Next time, I'll pack a network cable and a wireless router so I can plug into their router (there is an available port, I just don't have a CAT5 cable with me) or plug in my own wireless router so I can have access.

I tried using Network Stumbler to find an open WiFi hotspot, but there are approximately fifteen within range, all WEP encrypted.  Oh well.

Books, Books, Books, Books, Books!

I just Shelfari .  Not exactly sure what it is all about, but it's about books, and therefore, can't be all bad.

Books are good, books are fun.  Now, I just need an extra 3-4 hours a day to read. :)

Join Shelfari.  At least check it out.

Wow - Dual Monitors

I have a plethora of monitors at work that aren't currently being used.  One of my coworkers has dual monitors, and suggested that I try it with my laptop.

I never thought that I could get any productivity boost from having more than one monitor with my laptop.  I figured it would be too distracting and difficult, because I *assumed* that I would just get the same image on the external monitor that I was getting on my internal laptop monitor.

WRONG!

I am able to EXPAND my desktop when I have the external monitor connected and able to do something I've wanted to do for a long time - have a separate screen for just Outlook.  It rocks.

It would be nice if more applications took into account a second monitor, but for now, I can live with just being able to throw one of my applications (most likely Outlook) on the second screen.  Very, very nice.

New Book publication date service?

I have certain authors that I like to read (when I have time).  Sometimes I miss when a new book comes out and don't see it until a few months later after it comes out.  Sometimes I never notice that a new release has come out, which is a shame.

I'd love to find a service where I could plug in specific authors (JA Jance, John T. Lescroart, Grisham, Kathy Reichs, Patricia Cornwell, Stephen White and Sue Grafton) and if they had a book that was being published, I would get an email letting me know that a new book was coming out.

I found something on Barnes and Noble.com that would allow me to do this, but only for specific authors, not necessarily ones I would chose.

I found that there was a new book by Sue Grafton coming out in December.  So I went to the local library site and put in the name and put my name on the list of people who want to reserve it and read it.  I'm number 202 on the list.

Stephen R. White has a new book coming out in March of 2008, but it isn't available on the library catalog site as of yet.

But other authors aren't as well known.  John Lescroart is not a name most people know.  Stephen White is probably not a name that people know either.  The issue I found with Barnes and Noble's service was that it was 'popular' authors, not put an author's name in.....

If someone knows of a service that would give me this information, please leave me a comment.

Thanks!

Earth's perfect food

Red onions.  Preferably Walla Walla.  Or Subway Onions from Oregon.

Nuff said.  Deep Fried, or in big slices on cheeseburgers....

Or an onion sandwich, on wheat, from Subway. :)
