Universal Docking station work with desktop?

My work desktop has one monitor.  It also only has one hookup to hook a monitor up.

I want a second monitor, but in order to do that, I’d have to put all the components into a new case, buy a new video card and then be able to have two monitors.

Recently, I ran across this piece of hardware and I don’t see any reason why this wouldn’t work for a desktop.
